Don't Use MOVEX!

What Movex doesn't tell you it had its moving carrier license revoked in 1998, and now does business as a moving broker. Movex has multiple FMCSA citations, including being cited for false advertising. Not once, but twice... Didn't want to change its scam.

This shady company did not disclose on its website (until I forced them to) that it was a moving broker, nor disclose this on its contract. The www.movex.com website shows photos of semi trucks with the Movex logo on it to deceived consumers into thinking it's a moving carrier. But Movex does not own trucks and is not a moving carrier. Movex even issues a bill of lading which only moving carrier can legally do, to further mislead consumers into to thinking it is the carrier.

371.7 Misrepresentation. (a) A broker shall not perform or offer to perform any brokerage service (including advertising), in any name other than that in which its registration is issued. (b) A broker shall not, directly or indirectly, represent its operations to be that of a carrier. Any advertising shall show the broker status of the operation.

Movex subcontracted my job to a carrier (AT Transport) who was NOT authorized by the FMCSA to transport household goods, he could only transport freight. The driver did not secure our car inside the truck and almost every pieced of our furniture was damaged due to our loose auto slamming against it. Only when you file a claim does Movex disclose it is a moving broker. Moving brokers are required to have insurance/a bond, but do not have to pay claims like carriers do. Then it tries to make the consumer responsible for securing the car... But this is not the law.

Protection against shifting and falling cargo 393.100 Which types of commercial motor vehicles are subject to the cargo securement standards of this subpart, and what general requirements apply? (c) Prevention against shifting of load. Cargo must be contained, immobilized or secured in accordance with this subpart to prevent shifting upon or within the vehicle to such an extent that the vehicles stability or maneuverability is adversely affected.

Here's the catch, your contract is with Movex not the carrier. If you try to file a claim with the carrier, they do not return your calls. If you try to file a claim with the carrier's insurance company... The insurance company tells you if the carrier will not confirm the damage, then the insurance company cannot verify it, and will pay for your damages. Movex is a shady company that side steps all the FMCSA laws that apply to moving carriers which is precisely why it became a moving broker. It is no wonder Movex has a C rating from the BBB and 49 complaints filed to date!
