Ramona Animal Shelter
Ripoff and deceit on an animal, misrepesented health and age

Shops, Products, Services

Following is a copy of the E-Mail I sent to these people. The Manager-Laura who would not respond. All of the Directors who also would not resond.

This makes you wonder what these folks are really interested in beside their own wallets... They will not respond regarding this poor animal... They mis-represented the age and health of this poor wonderful cat. The paperwork stated he was 3 years old, the Vet THEY recommended states he is 10 years old... They are supposed to be helping these creatures... With help like this, I think it is a lot more humane to put these animals to sleep than to have them adopted out numerous times, I would guess this is done so these people can get a salary and more donations from unsuspecting people trying to help these poor creatures...

So far I have spent over $104 to help this animal in the first 2 weeks he has been with me, I still have to spend about another $200 to fix his teeth which are rotted and that they ignored at the shelter for the 3 months he was there. He had an obvious skin infection, teeth problems and ear mites that were not treated in all the time he was there with them...

I was told the first lady that adopted him had to turn him back in because of his health and the cost factor...

Following is the E-M I sent to them that they have totally ignored so far...

I recently adopted a cat from your shelter on Sat 10-18-03 named Pete; his number there was 24668. We took him into the Small Animal Hospital at 438 State St. For a check up on 10-21-03 which is on your Vet Hospital list

While sitting in the waiting room, another couple was there with their pet for a visit. They saw Pete and recognized him from the shelter - I was told his history with you at that time. They said he had been adopted from the shelter before but the lady could not keep him because he was too old and she could not afford his veterinarian bills, so she had to return him to you. Here is a summary of what the vet discovered

1. The Vet found he had Ear mites and medicated his ears for me, they charged $26.50 for that procedure.
2. Your people at the shelter said he had a skin condition, that was never treated in all the time he was with you? The vet wants to charge $71.32 to do a blood panel before determining if he can be treated with Cortisone for the skin condition, which is very noticeable by the large bumps on his skin.
3. The Vet told me he was at least 10 years old and not the 3 years old as your paper work stated. I have to question your staff's ability on determining age when there is a large chart on your wall showing how to figure a cat's age by their teeth???
4. The Vet also said he needs major tooth extractions in the amount of $196.11 - you can smell the decay in his saliva

I do not understand how this poor cat was allowed to be adopted and kept there for so long with all of these readily known problems. I am on disability and cannot afford to get all of these problems taken care of, however I cannot in good conscience return him to your place to be mistreated any further.

We would appreciate hearing back from you as soon as possible on how we can work together to get his medical problems resolved.
