Will Not Give Refund For Defective Products

Shops, Products, Services

Beware when you buy books and other products from Amazon.com.
Amazon uses independent venders that are able to determine their own return policy I've just found out. Generally, using Amazon is about as secure as buying on Craig's List. I had an expensive textbook I bought as "new" on Amazon.com but was in fact used and it started to fall apart immediately due to a defective binding and bad adhesive that let the pages fall out. The Amazon "bookseller" basically said that it was my problem and offered no refund. After a few email exchanges, he offered to "let me" at my expense to send the book back to him and for him to take a look at the book and see if it had resell value.in any event the refund would be subject to a "restocking fee" and only a partial refund if any - totally his discretion. This for a book that was misrepresented as new and was defective and began to fall apart immediately. Amazon should be investigated for fraud, misrepresentation and not backing up its responsibilities to consumers.
