On July 3rd 2009 our family contracted with Canfora Masonry to pour a concrete patio. He signed the contract to complete the work by July 10th. He never returned to do the work and refused to return the money to our 79 year old widowed mother! He only returned two calls in the following 11 months. Once when I called his father that works with him and is possibly the actual contractor and again when his neighbor that recommended him to us went to his door and confronted him about this theft of our mothers money. He told me each time that he would return the money. After months passed and when he actually answered the phone he stated that we would NEVER have the money returned.

We have had to hire an attorney to file suit and his response is to be filed by June 10. We have filed a police report with Cranford Police. We have requested that the Union County Prosecutor look into our case. We were told by the Cranford detective that they were not able to follow up. We have filed a complaint with the Cranford Municipal Court and he is to be in court on June 9th to plead guilty or not guilty. We have also filed online a complaint with the New Jersey Attorney General about this case as ELDER ABUSE. At this time we have not had a response from them.

We are prepared to pursue this individual in the courts, police dept. And prevent this from happening to other families and elderly people of Cranford, Union County and wherever else this person contracts for services. Sincerely, Jack
