Ripoff! Unauthorized charges. How did they get my unlisted number?

Sometime in August I received a call from Global Air/Wave informing me I had been selected to receive a free pager. I was told that I would receive a certificate in the mail & that I could either pick it up at the local Best Buy or that for a shipping & handling fee, Global could mail it to me.

I was told continually that for such & such a monthly charge & ofcourse the set up fee, I would have to call to authorize the service. I was also told that I could use another company of choice and that the pager was still mine to keep.

They told me I had to listen to some spew without interrupting. This must of been where the deception continued. I kept interrupting because I felt I really didn't understand.

Later, got the certificate for a free pager & a number I was supposed to call. I never bothered to try & get the free pager & never called the toll free number.

My October phone bill had a set up charge & monthly service charge. When I call Global to have these services reversed, I spoke to a very rude lady. She kept telling that she would play the recording for me where I supposedly accepted their offer. I said that I did not authorize these service & I wanted them reversed. She simply hung up on me.

I contacted SBC who said they would return charges. I also contacted the utility commission in Austin. I had to write them a letter. They said they would look into it.

I'm wondering how my number ever got called as I have an unlisted number & have also signed up for the no call list.

Waiting for resolution.
