Allen Cowling Took Me for $16,000

I too thought I had the perfect guy for the case. After reading Allen Cowlings website I contacted his office, spoke with his wife Brenda who is the office manager. I explained my case to her, she thought they could help so we hired Allen for 10 days. We paid $16,000.00 including, travel, hotel w / kitchen, rental car.
I met with him once he arrived and got settled in, and I was told he would analyze the case, got to the courthouse for motions, help with inconsistencies and what have you. After 10 days I recieved a 31 page rough draft, consisting of notes. At the end of the notes was one from Allen stating that he would work on my case for no additional charge and he would be completed within a month or two.
When a family member had emailed him asking for an update three months after he left, he just about blew a fuse and his exact words were "if someone agrees to help you at no cost, the best policy would be just to leave them alone and let them complete their work at their own speed." So I let it go for another six months and emailed asking for an update, figuring he had plenty of time to spend with his family, since working on my case had taken away him away form them. His reply was "Clearly I told you I do not do updates - I am more than happy to when I am being paid, but as I told you - I would finish when I finsh." He went on to say "I had planned to do a complete breakdown of everything I found but as I told you long ago, the next time I was asked for an update I would stop." And that he did. He sent everything back to me!
Brenda never mentioned to me that I could never ask for an update, the website does not post anything about shutting down a case due to asking for an update, and Allen himself had never told me in person that I could not ask for an update or he would stop the case.
Now I am out $16,000 that I could have spent on an appeal lawyer, instead of what I got from Allen Cowling, which is my case somewhat organized with a few personal notes. I believe people should be aware of my situation, and if they want to hire Cowling Investigations for anything, that they need to research and maybe ask for references.
