Unauthorized withdrawal from my bank account

About a year ago I was contacted about a debt that had to sent to Academy Collections. I set up payments and have been making payments on this debt since May, and was close to paying it off. I checked my bank statement on Feb 4 and an unauthorized withdrawal had been made by Academy Collections, which is shocking to say the least considering they just had a huge lawsuit against them for doing the same thing to other people. I contacted them immediately as follows:

Called at 2:45, was sent to voicemail where I left a message

Called at 2:47, was hung up on

Called at 2:49, talked to someone and was told that I would receive a call in 30 min, never did

Called at 3:36, was hung up on

Called at 3:39, was hung up on again

Called at 3:39, was sent to the wrong extension and was passed along to her supervisor (no names given)

The one time I was really able to talk to someone, I was told that I had called on January 11 and authorized the payment to come out. I told them that I did no such thing. They said they had the recordings for that day and when I asked to hear them, they hung up on me.

I pulled up my phone bill for that month and, not surprisingly, there was absolutely no call made to them on that day.in fact, the last day that I had talked to anyone from there was on Nov 27. I contacted my bank to dispute the charge (which is currently pending) and I also contacted the FTC and filed a complaint about the matter.

No one had bothered to send me a letter or try to call me since november and for them to just take the money really irks me. I realize it was irresponsible to let a debt get so far as to be put in the hands of a debt collector, but at least I was responsible enough to try and pay it off.
