Fake Credit Card Company scams innocent people out of money

On 18 Sept 03 I received a call from a man claiming that my name had been selected to receive a $5000 unsecured visa or master card. After replying that I did not work he assured me that I was selected and that I was 1 of only 5 people in my area to receive this one time offer. I advised him that I would not give any personal information over the phone and he assured me that he would not ask me too.

After several minutes of trying to butter me up he asked me for my the name of my bank, the routing number and my account number. After refusing to devulge personal information he stated that this info was available each time I wrote a check and that he only needed this because they do not perform a credit check. He stated that he only needed my bank info for verification purposes. I again refused and hung up the phone.

After hanging up I got online a could not find a website for this so called company. I then did a search and read all of the complaints from innocent people who were scamed out of hundreds of dollars. These fools even have the nerve to give you their name and ID number.

Please beware! If I sounds to good to be true then it probably is. Although they did not get the information they needed to steal money from my checking account they have ripped off so many other innocent people. This must stop. Please remember that if you are pre-approved for a credit card you should never have to provide your bank information over the phone.
