Koh's scam to trick customers into signing up for credit cards

I was promised by a Kohl's cashier that if I opened a charge account with them that day I would received a discount, and that I could pay off my balance using my Kohl's Gift Card by going up to Customer Service when the charge had been processed.

I opened up the charge account and paid for my items and came back the following week to pay off my balance using my gift card. I was told that they could not apply the gift card to my account and that they had no resolution for me and were sorry that their employee had given me the wrong information. They told me I needed an original copy of my receipt and would "think about trying to resolve something". I asked them if they could get a duplicate of my receipt and Natalie said they didn't know how to do that. I asked to speak to their boss and Natalie said the boss was not available and had no phone number for contact.

I do not have the money to pay them for their scam and am looking for some type of resolution.
