I was contacted by Robert Allen's coaching company Elightened Wealth Institute. I had attended the Robert Allen Institute 3 day seminar a month or so earlier.
A nice lady by the name of Debra Blair talked with me about doing some coaching. I was interested, but knew my wife would not allow me to spend any more money on chasing my dream of real estate. I expressed my concerns, and Debra assured me there was a money back guarantee if I could not get a deal done within a year. I went ahead and took the next step, which I talked with a Eric Hemmert. (Exact name may not be right, but its close.) He took my information, and required that my wife be on the call as well, as she would have to hear what is being said, and agree to it as well. Eric told both, my wife and I, that there is a money back policy after I submit 30 offers. Eric also told me I needed to get some lines of credit, and to apply for every credit card I could find all at once - or all within a few hours. This would make it possible for me to get the credit cards, before the credit bureau could report all the inquiries. Eric also told me to put down that I make $150,000 a year, which would make the lines of credit larger. I did so, and when it was time to sign up, I did it with my new lines of credit.
I was assigned a coach, or mentor as they call it. Randy Lawrence. Eric also suggested I talked to Rex Hudson, the director of coaching.
I fulfilled my obligation of 30 offers, and mailed them within 6 months of starting the program. After waiting a month or so, Rex called me and said there was a year waiting period for the refund. I had no choice but to continue paying the ridiculous payments on my discover card for another 6 months. After the year was up, I contacted Rex again through email. He gave me a phone call, and we talked like old friends. After that, I waited a few more months to find out the board had reviewed my file, and found I was close to making a deal. They had pointed out that in the agreement signed at the beginning, they had the right to offer more coaching or a refund, whichever they decide. To my dismay, I am still working on the balance of the credit card, and am getting a divorce, much because of what happened here.
The coaching was $7740. This was an expensive mistake, not only in money, but in a marriage.
I post this both because EWI swindled me, but also if your dream is going to get in the way of your marriage, decide what is best for you. Don't let people like this take your money. Its not worth your marriage.
There are many "information" people out there selling information. Make sure you can pay for it before you can buy it. Buyer beware. Much of the information I learned was available from the public library.
