There is a complete scam that is being applied to consumers by DirecTV. I have been a long time customer of Directv. I purchased a cable box with HD capabilities. The box burnt out after a short period. I called the company and they stated that they could send a technician out to repair or replace the unit. The technician came and stated that the boxes that I was utilizing have been burning out for he past year, and it is common for these particular boxes to be replaced. That was it. When I went to disconnect my service the customer service representative stated that Directv policy is to tact on an additional contract to a consumer if they have replaced equipment for up to two years! I was livid. There was no signature needed and they said that they have the right. They sold me a malfunctioning box in the first place. Now that it has been replaced I have to get a new contract that I was not aware of. No one told me that I would have to be under an additional two year contract if they replace their equipment even when it was their faulty equipment to begin with. This is unfair malice practices and something needs to be done. I am tired of company taking advantage of consumers because they feel they can get away with it.
