Swindler, false promises of refund, screwed others too

As I responded to an advertisement via telephone, William (Bill) Nelson, convinced me to enroll in his speed-reading program. He told me that I would not only be able to read lines of text much faster, but that my comprehension ability would increase as well. He scheduled me for weekend class in October of 1999, and told me over the phone that his service has a fully-refundable, money back guarantee.

I attended his weekend course with several other students, and found that the technique Bill was teaching involved reading while moving ones fingers quickly under the lines of text. This process continued for nearly twelve hours each day, and some students became exasperated and left the two-day class early, not returning the following day. Others expressed their discontent verbally during class.

The charges for the class appeared on my credit card bill (roughly $300). Three hundred dollars for someone to tell you to move your finger quickly across a page and repeat the process for hours in his rented hotel classroom.

Despite my efforts, my abilities werent improved, and Bill didnt refund my payment when I requested it via telephone.

Just today (July 8), I learned about how I can make disputes with my credit card company, as well as something called the Fair Credit Billing Act. I am currently working toward getting back my money, by opening up a dispute case with my credit card company, as if that doesn't work, I'm also able to contact the Attorney General, literally. Anyone can do this, including you. Let's get serious about con artists like these and get back what was taken from us.
