Jim Hillier, AIA cheated me out of thousands of dollars. Jim Hillier overbilled my project, and then refused to finish the work. The work that I received as a client was unbelievable. The firm refused to set up meetings, answer phone calls, or respond to requests. I gave the firm a sizeable retainer, and Jim Hillier and his partner Bill Engle both used personal excuses to avoid working on my project.in addition, they used the excuse that the Bellevue, Washington office had authority over Design, and that the Irvine office could not perform the service that I had hired them to complete.
They misrepresented what the Irvine, CA office could do, how many staff they had, and what their expertise was.
Jim Hillier and Bill Engle are unethical liars, and should be discharged from their positions as Architects.
On several days, they set up meetings to go over progress, only to cancel an hour before the meeting. I spent hours in traffic from my office in LA to visit them, and they just had nothing to show me.
I have found out that I am not the only dissatisfied customer of Jim Hillier and Bill Engle. I encourage any developers to contact me before contemplating using MG2 Architects or dealing with Engle or Hillier.
