A huge ripoff! On loan modifications, they only took our money

I was contacted by mail by Arase Law Firm, PC on December on regards a modification on our mortgage loan. We were desperate and agreed to hire the services of this firm. We paid almost four thousand dollars in full with a credit card since we couldn't afford that much money upfront.

Several months after trying to get in touch with this company to check the status of our case and having my case jumped from one desk to another, I decided to contact the banks myself to see how things were going. Turns out that this company had only made contact with them twice and they had done nothing to apply for a modification on my behalf. The bank representative suggested I should apply for a modification myself without having this company intervene at all... A few days after I talked to both banks myself I received, from the banks, paperwork to fill out and return as soon as possible which I did and a few weeks later the banks sent me offers for a modification.By then the firm Arase had never try to contact me at all and if I called them they would just send me to their voice mail which was never replied.

I finally talked to a Jonathan Pulido the general manager and told him I wanted to cancel our contract since they haven't done anything to help us and that I wanted my money back in full because I didn't think they deserve to charge any at all, his answer was that it wasn't that simple, that he first needed to verify how many hours the lawyers have put into my case to be deduced from the money I paid them. He said he was going to call me back and he never did. I kept calling as usual and it is the same thing over and over. I found out that the company has moved from its original address and they never told me they did.

I think the company should pay me back in full all the funds I paid them. It is not fair companies like this take advantage of hard working people like us, we had to stop making our mortgage payments because my husband lost his job and I was the only supporting our household.
Fortunately the banks are working with us to come to better terms on our mortgage.
