Scam artist at work

On july 31 i received a letter from this company that said CONGRATULATIONS! Acceptance letter secret shopper. Enclosed was a check for $2450.00. It was for a research program fully paid for that would become a permanant part time job. I was to evaluate K-MART, WAL-MART, MACY'S, TARGET and JCPENNEY. I would cash the check, keep $380.00 for my self and use the balance to purchase items from the stores above and keep the merchandise. Then I was to evaluate WESTERN UNION, using $1950.00 of the money and send it to a family member. I was to contact MARTIN LAWSON (ACCOUNTS MANAGER) within 5 business days.
