Falsely Accused of Shoplifting After Receipt Missed Three Items

A friend and I were shopping at the Kroger store, Linwood Square, in Indianapolis, IN. I purchased several items, and to make it easier for me to carry the items, I put some of them into my own bag.

As I was leaving the store, I was approached by a store employee, saying I had not paid for the items inside my bag, and would I follow him (and a security guard) to the office. I did as he asked, knowing I had done nothing wrong.

The items had been paid for, but for some reason 3 of them did not show up on the register receipt... Making it look as if I had stolen them, which I did not.

Police were called out, I was interigated (sp), and was not believed at all. I was then told that if I "Came Clean" and admitted to "taking" the items, I would not be arrested, but would be summoned into court. I am on probation, so to avoid going to jail, I did as they suggested, and said I took the items.

Now, I am scheduled to go to court, may be facing jail anyway for "Violation of Probation". Just because I was trying to make carrying my groceries an easier task, I am now in trouble for something I DID NOT DO.

Just makes me wonder how many other innocent people these people have humiliated, embarrassed and sent to jail for crimes they did not commit. These people need to watch out for the real criminals, and leave innocent people alone.
