Financial Management Advisors
Charged upfront fee for loan modification and then vanished

Shops, Products, Services

I paid a local company an upfront fee of 2,500 dollars to help with my loan situation. They promised to get my loan modified, reducing the interest rate and maybe knocking off some of the principle because the house is "upside down".

Fma also claimed to have a team of lawyers on thier staff which I found out later was a lie. I was also told to stop making any payments to the bank while
the modification process was ongoing.

I waited for weeks without word, and made a few trips to thier office to drop off additional documents. Another week went by and I got a letter from the bank saying I was aout to go into forelosure. I tried contacting FMA and only got an answering machine. I went to the office and saw through the window everything packed in boxes. I tried to contact my counselor and couldn't find her anywhere. I got a hold of one of the employees and he said he no longer worked there and was moving to Brazil that same day. I was getting desperate so I went online to find thier website and the first link that popped up was something about the state attorney sueing the company.

I had no idea about the laws here, but no company is allowed to charge upfront for loan mods, especially if they are not an actual lawyer. So now I'm just tryingto get my money back, and they left me in a worse situation than where I started. Fma is a professional scam, with a "friendly" staff and even a office. They have ads all over claiming the help thousands of Floridians, and they don't do anything different that you can't do yourself dealing with your bank. Thanks for nothing FMA.
