Loan Modification

I have been trying to get my loan modified from an interest only to a conventional principle and interest loan. I orginially bought my house in June and during the first year the house was falling apart around me. I refinanced in order to make the house livable in 2007 with a company called Mortgagestar. At that time I questioned whether I qualified, but they told me I was fine.in March due to the financial burden of the morgage I went to BAC Home Loan Servicing to ask for a loan modification.in March I received a modification package which I sent back as instructed and started making the modified payment. I have been making my monthly payments on time every since, and did not receive notice otherwise. On January 8 I received a notice threatening foreclosure. I called the company and they informed that my modification is still being reviewed. I continued to call the business on a weekly basis, and still I am being told the loan is being reviewed.in late February I received a request to sign up for a Short Sale of my house in leiu of the foreclosure. Can you please help me with this situation. I am a hardworking individual that does not want to get out of my obligation to BAC. I have a wife and adopted six year old son. We just want to keep our house and have a regular loan that we can afford.
