I made an appointment with an ADT sales rep for information on a video monitoring system. The rep was 35 minutes late for the first appointment. I should have seen this as a red flag then. At the time, the rep quoted me $9.00/mth. For service for the cameras I was thinking of installing. I decided to move ahead and have the system installed. The rep came back to sign contracts. She was late again - this time 30 minutes. At the signing of the contract, she raised the monthly service fee to $9.95. I let it go.

A few days later (before the install), I began getting frantic calls from the rep stating she needed to change the contract. Now the monthly service fee had gone up to $12.00/mth. I was reluctant to follow through with the install because of all these errors. However, a manager offered me 2 months of service for free for the inconvenience and I accepted.

Shortly after the system was installed, it began malfunctioning. Camera #1 kept going out. When a camera goes out, the DVR emits a loud alarm. This alarm was going off at all times of the day and night. A HUGE inconvenience - especially at 2 A.M.! To make matters worse, I got my first bill from ADT and they never credited me with the 2 months of free service! I contacted service. It took them over a week to come out. All the while, my family is being inconvenienced by the sounds of the DVR alarms due to the faulty system.By the way, I paid ADT over $1500 for this system! When the service tech came out, he said the system was fixed. Within an hour after he left, the DVR alarm was going off and camera #1 was out AGAIN! Another problem is that if you rewind what the camera records and try to play it back, the playback is blurry. The service tech said he didn't know how to fix that! So, if someone commits a crime on my property, it probably won't be caught because of the defective system. However, even if it was, you could not make out the perpetrators identity because the playback is blurry.

I have asked ADT to remove their faulty system and issue me a refund. They have not complied. ADT has not been willing to take responsibility for their poor customer service and defective equipment.
