Jinny's Bridal Center
Humiliated me in front of my mother and bridal party

Shops, Products, Services

The events below summarize my experiences with Jinny's Bridal from July until December. It has angered me so much that I am only now (June) able to discuss it and take action. NO ONE should have the experience that I had but apparently reviews online have demonstrated that I am not the only one who has had a terrible experience at this place.

I bought my bridal gown at Jinny's bridal because of the selection and price. It was no doubt the best place for me to buy a gown. I was a little bit put off by the pushiness of the sales staff but dismissed it as them trying their best to make me happy. I lived outside the USA at the time I bought my dress in July. My sales consultant Julie (daughter of Jinny) knew that I wouldn't be back in the USA until 3 weeks before the wedding.

The dress took 3 months (as expected) to arrive and Julie knew that because I would only be back 3 weeks before the wedding the alterations will be rushed. She assured me that it would be fine and that we would communicate via email for my selection of the veil and the alterations I had planned to make. There were a few misunderstandings regarding my veil: Julie and I were discussing via email about whether I should get an organza veil or a chiffon veil. At the store Julie said that we could order an organza veil at no charge to see if I liked it but as we communicated I found out that they weren't going to order a veil for me if I wasn't ready to pay for it. That said, I was confused because of the previous communications Julie and I had.

In the end it was fine, I chose to go with a chiffon veil. When I came back to the USA I went to meet the seamstress at Jinny's Bridal to get fitted and to attach my straps. That is where my experience at the store began to get worse and worse. There were many miscommunications with Julie and the staff. She knew my situation but was never the one I dealt with post-sale. She was only there once. Because of that I had to deal with Jinny the owner, an older sales associate and another sales associate with a Texas or southern accent. It was my fault for not taking names down.

Jinny tried to hard sell me the veil and the sales associate with the southern accent kept giving me advice that I didn't want or need. They kept telling me their opinion when they should have been accommodating me. After the first fitting I thought I was happy with it. Unfortunately after the second fitting I had changed my mind. I realize that it is my fault for not catching it at the first fitting, but naturally as a bride I was indecisive. I am not the first nor will I be the last. The straps weren't centered and the detailing on the straps wasn't what I had imagined. The seamstress didn't execute what I had in mind.instead of accommodating me the staff started attacking me in front of the seamstress, my mother and my bridal party. They also wanted to charge me an extra $200 on top of the $420 I had already paid for alterations (on a $800 dress).

Can you say humiliation? I recognize that I may have changed my mind and given attitude to the staff but I wasn't out of line. When they started to point fingers at me and yelled at me (the one with the southern accent was literally shouting hurtful insults at me, and I had only met her twice before.) while Julie stood at the sidelines. I had no problem with Julie so she should have stepped in. Between the associate with the southern accent and Jinny, the owner, I was being bullied in front of everyone.

No matter the situation the owner and staff must always keep composure and treat the customer with respect. I was in utter sock and awe with the way I was being treated. Never in my life have I been treated like this in a retail environment. I don't know who they think they are to think that they can get away with it without consequence.

I was deeply hurt and angry at the ways things ended and I left the store shaking and in tears.
