Holly - Representative, AT&T lies about offer for iPhone then minipulates the billing to overcharge the customer

On May 15 I accepted and signed an agreement with AT&T wireless for the two year service agreement for an iPhone. The AT&T representative "Holly" informed me that the offer was $199 for the phone and the first months service fee, plus $14.10 in taxes. A total of $213.10 for the first months service and the phone. I bought a pack of plastic protectors for the iPhone face plate for $9.99 and also paid an additional $80 to cover the second months service. The total I paid prior to leaving the store was $303.09 I received my first bill today and the amount due was $124.86. There was a credit of $80 and the final cost was $44.86

That would mean that I paid $347.95 for an iPhone and 1 months service. It appears that I was lied to and all the $199 covered was the cost of the iphone. I stayed in that AT&T store for 2 hours going over the details of the offer with the sales rep until I got all the details right. So, either wayit goes I got suckered. I would have never bought this phone had I known that it would cost me $347.95 for the phone and one months service, and the installation fee.

By the agreement I understood I should not have a credit of $40 minus any taxes on the $39.99 amount.

My phone complaint was handled through the AT&T wireless customer service center by Brian, who would not give me a phone confirmation number, his last name, or a rep identification number. He told me that he has adjusted the billing and given me an account credit of $80. Wow, now that was generous, but I think I would be a fool to believe that this is going to happen. I will go to the store that I bought the phone from tomorrow (June 9th) and see what my billing status is.

AT&T is a lying rip-off company. The sales rep misrepresented the company and lied to me over the phone offer details. I agreed to get the phone, knowing that the cost of the first and second months service was covered. I would never buy a phone were the initial first months cost was going to be $347.96, that wotuld be insane. Advice to other consumers Be extremely careful in dealing woth this company, they will lie to you without delay. Record all conversations you have with sales reps as proof of what was said by reps and yourself. Buyer Beware of AT&T!
