Swiss Watch Repair Center
Shoddy work, won't stand by service

Shops, Products, Services

Had a Longines chrono whose minute hand occasionally failed to tick almost immediately after purchase. Took it to Swiss Watch Repair Center as it is an authorised service center where it was diagnosed that a part needed replacement.

The repair took four months as they claimed that the parts were coming from Switzerland. After the original problem was fixed, I noticed that the watch had some heavy scuffing on some links which were definitely not there when it was brought in—in fact the watch was practically unworn due to the minute hand issue.

I explained this to the repair person, Harry (Harri?), who could only offer denials. No offer was made to try to remedy this, even with a simple polishing. When you bring a car in for service, would you expect a couple dings and dents to come along with the service?

I then tried contacting the main service center in Secaucus, NJ, which completely replaced the bracelet. It seems that the Swatch group (of which Longines is part of) service centers are mostly independent and that service will vary. However, I have found that the Secaucus center has greater authority to remedy customer complaints.
