You Can Be Charged Fees for Requesting A Payment Reverse Even If You Accidental Did It

While sitting at work on Monday, April 27 I realized I had not paid my bill from Hardin County Water District No 1 (HCWD1). It was my intent to make an online payment as soon as I got to work, but the day got away from me. It was not until my work day ended at 6:00PM that I thought about it again. So I accessed the HDCW1 site and made my payment. I could not find how to logoff so I just clicked the back button and it showed a screen that said I had successfully made a payment, just like the screen when I made my intentional payment. I paused for a minute because I thought it might have paid again, but I got off the site.

I then went to my bank account from which I had authorized the online payment and my balance was less than I thought it should be. I clicked pending transactions, and it showed the payment had been made TWICE. I did not get to call HCDW1 until 12:21PM, Wednessday, April 29. I spoke with Stephanie and explained that I accidentally paid twice and I asked if I could get the payment reversed. OF COURSE, she suggested that I could just leave it for next month's bill. They all want to keep our money and place stipulations of returning it to us. HCWD1 is no different, they charge $5.00 to reverse a transaction. I could not believe it! Nothing in my history with them shows that I have made payments in advance for another month, so I should have been given a courtesy reversal. This is the area that is dying for people to come here and yet these businesses always appear to be trying to grab money from you. So you people coming here from Alexandria VA, St Louis MO and Indianapolis IN becasue of Base Realignment (BRAC) BEWARE!!!
