Perception, Inc
Perception - Benjamin Lewis Owner Breached our contract

Shops, Products, Services

Beware of Perception, Inc. From Gaithersburg, Maryland! I entered into a contract several years ago with the owner, Ben Lewis, to market our company by distributing press releases about a new concept of our on a national basis. The agreement was for $30,000 for the year, payable in monthly installment of $mo. For the first 6 months and $3000/mo. For the remaining 6. It also included a 6 month termination clause. After 4 months and $8100 the company produced absolutely NO RESULTS expect for a $300 website and business cards that were cost prohibitive due to all of the colors involved. The reason I entered into this agreement was that he told me he had contacts in place with newspapers and publications across the country that were ready to begin the distribution of press releases in their publications. After 4 months I began to realize this was not the case and when I questioned Mr. Lewis about this he told me he was still working on making these contacts. I told him at that time I was ending our relationship because he lied and produced no results, unless he could produce the name of the contacts at their respective publications and the actual press releases. Since he was unable to do that I terminated his services. He then invoiced me for the balance of $4000. When I told him that I was deceived into entering this agreement and I should get my money back, unless he was capable of proving to me he did not deceive me, he took it to court. Since I was unwilling to spend $5000 to defend $4000 the court placed a default judgment against my company. While I agree he won the legal battle in Maryland I want to send a strong message of caution to each and everyone that considers the services of this company. He was, at that time and may still be today, hiring "Interns" from the local college. If you're not sure what the phrase "You get what you pay for" means, when you hire his company you will find out. These kids are very nice but totally inexperienced in this field. And you get to pay for their education. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY! And the clincher is that still today he is chasing this money from about 3 years ago by hiring an Attorney that I believe to be working on a contingency basis to harass me. This has been going on for about a year now and the balance, which has escalated up to $6500 at one point, is down to a recent settlement offer from him of $3500. Evidently Mr. Lewis has not a whole lot on his plate these days and if that is the case, I'm sure for good reason. I spent over $8000 before I woke up and received absolutely NOTHING he promised in writing. Had I, I would still be a client today. You see testimonials on his site that are mostly from the locals, but I caution you, if you are out of state as I am, be very, very aware!
