Scamming Advertising Company

In early October a salesman with Mid Coastal Communications called my husband to set up a meeting with him regarding the phonebook covers. He met with him a few days later, the salesman then told my husband that for 3 payments of $179 we could get an ad on the front page of a phonebook cover for the local phonebooks (AT&T, Verizon, etc.), we would be the only company in our industry with an ad, he would distribute these "phonebook covers" all over locally to gated high end communities, offices all over, etc. And we would also recieve 100 to pass out as we wish.

My husband handed him a check for the first downpayment of $179 along with our business card and a drawing of what he would like our ad to look like. A few weeks later he called again to request the 2nd payment ($179), he met up with my husband at a job, retrieved the 2nd check and let him know that he would be contacting him soon to let him know when the proof would be ready for his review and approval. He later called to let us know that our ad was completed and would be coming by our home to collect the final payment and give us our 100 copies of the phonebook covers.

My husband was quite upset about this knowing that he had not approved the final on the ad. When the salesman came we were less than pleased, the whole cover was a low quality print on flimsy cardboard with double sided tape to stick to a phonebook! There were 3 others on the cover in the same industry as us! Not only that, our ad is horrible! Nothing what we wanted!

I have called 6 other advertisers on the cover and all of them are as upset as we are. No one saw a proof, not one person has received a call from the advertising, and all believe, like us, that we were scammed.

While it is not a lot of money ($537) it is enough to get me mad. This company took our money, printed 100 covers for me (totalling MAYBE $20) and never did their part of the job. (Never distributed their portion of covers) Please advise me as to what I can do.
