Ripoff false promises rip off scam clain lack of maintenance to get out of repair costs

When my home central air conditioner (a covered component under the AHS Home Warranty Insurance stopped working, I called the AHS service department.

Two days later they sent technicians from the Hialeah Company Airtouch Service, Inc. After looking at my 12 year old air-handler, thy stated that it was not repairable. It had reached the end of its useful life and would have to be replaced. The unit was corroded throughout and literally falling apart. Debris was causing short-circuits (sparks), and gumming-up the blower and coils.

The service reps then departed leaving the partially disassembled unit on my garage floor. I was pleased at their prognosis because my warranty covers replacement of covered parts that cannot be repaired. I proceeded to wait for the technicians return with a replacement unit.

Two days later I had not heard again from Airtouch, so I called AHS again and they informed me that they would not be returning because my unit was not covered by my warranty due to the fact that it had not been properly maintained.

This took my completely by surprise not only because I HAD maintained the air conditioner, but because this was not what their own technicians had told me! I called Air Touch and after dozens of phone calls and messages over a period of one week, I finally got to speak to their office manager (Tony), who assured me that his office HAD NOT said that. He added that they COULD NOT have said that, because there was no way to determine that insufficient or improper maintenance could have been the cause of my A/C to stop working.

During subsequent calls to both AHS and Airtouch, each stuck to their version of the story, thus effectively leaving me out in the cold.

I tape-recorded my telephone conversations with both companies and can thus prove that one (or both) are outright lying.

I suspect the lack of maintenance pretext is AHSs standard response whenever an appliance cant be repaired in order to avoid the cost of a replacement. (The number of other similar complaints about AHS on this site would seem to further confirm my suspicion).

I have since been forced to replace my air-handler at my own expense despite having paid for a warranty that should have covered it. The money I spent on the useless warranty was as much a total waste, as was the service fee I paid to the technicians they sent who did nothing but make a mess and leave.

I believe Ive stumbled across a large-scale fraudulent operation, and that you would be doing a service to the general public by investigating the matter and exposing them if you should reach the same conclusion as I have.

I find it ironic that AHS appears to be living up to what I presume was a typographical error on the back page of their warranty booklet that reads: Each of these companies operates only where prohibited by law.
