Misleading, Two-faced, Crook

I rented a duplex through this company with no problems, even received my complete $1400 deposit back. At the end of the lease period, I entered into a Real Estate Investment Trust (aka owner/seller financing) deal on a home. I was hesitant at first but Gary assured me that the deal was on the up and up. He explained that the contract was open-ended and that either party could relinquish their interest in the contract and walk away. After a year, I expressed my interest to walk away and agreed to pay the rent until he could find new tenants due to an unforeseen personal financial crisis. Mr. Brackhahn was so angry he immediately demanded we vacate the property. We obliged and left the home in the same condition as when we moved in. Clean carpet, and even installed a new dishwasher. Mr. Brackhahn moved someone into the home within 3 months.

He has stuck us for three years rent of which he has reported to the credit bureau for $43,000 even though he kept our initial deposit of almost $7000 and moved someone else into the property within 3 months! Legally, I don't think you can charge someone for three years of future rent income. This guy did a complete about face, did not want to work with us at all. The home was overpriced to begin with as he makes $300-500 off the top monthly. Do not get into a contract with this guy, he is not what he appears to be on the outside!
