Door to Door Magazines & Children's Books Sales Scam Alert!

Shops, Products, Services

On Feb. 5th 2009 a young man came to my door, said he lived a few blocks over & went to the local college. His team was trying to raise money to take a trip to Europe. He had a list of magazine subscritions he was offering & children's books. I don't have much time to read anymore being a single Mom & working so told him I wasn't interested. He then showed me the children's book selections. Said that sales on the children's books a portion of the money would go to the Children's Hospital in Oakland CA.

I donate to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital when I can so was pleased to help. I purchased Ratatouille books set of 3. The young man gave me my recipet & showed me the website to track the shipment of my order. Said the order would arrive in about 3-4 weeks. I put the recipet away & didn't track my order.

Then this week I got a letter from Destiny Sales regarding my subscription information. The letter stated: "Due to some unforeseen issues, your magazine order was returned to us & we are not able to fulfill it. We have decided to give you this special offer. Choose any three of the magazines listed on the other page & write the number of years that you would like for each of them (up to tow years each unless noted). They will be sent to you at no additional cost. Thanks for choosing us for your magazine needs & we hope you enjoy them:)."

First off I ordered books not magazines. The letter gave my account receipt information but no number to contact the company. I looked up the site on-line for the number to request my refund back. There was no phone number to reach the company. Just a way to e-mail them. I am waiting for their response about sending my refund for not fulfilling my order, which I probably won't get. I also looked up my account receipt information which per the site dosen't exsit or I am unauthourized to look it up.

I am not ordering magazines from them again. I'm already wasted money trusting the sales man! I will never purchase from any door sales person again unless they can give me the product at the door at that time!
