Magazine Sales Fraud by 2 possible teenagers looking to earn money for college

Last May a couple of "college" looking boys came to my door trying to sell magazine subscriptions. I fell for it and ordered a magazine for my 2 year old. It cost me $40 for the magazine and then an additional $15 for a "service" that they were providing as door-to-door salemen working to earn an income? I questioned the $15 fee, but after 30 minutes of my son crying and these "kids" getting a bit too comfortable, I agreed to it. I never received my magazine and I never saw the kids again. My check was cashed! I was just wondering if this is a scam and does this company really exist. I have searched the internet for days now looking for something from this company and have found nothing except for this site. Is there anything that I can do, other then not answer my door?
