Magazine scam to take your money and possibly your identity

A xed the man came by my house and gave a sad story to my wife about getting his life back together. He sold her three magazine subscriptions for $85.00. When I got home, I called the receipt and was told that the check would be voided. I also faxed the cancellation notice (within 3 days) as specified in the receipt. The check was still cashed and no magazines. They basically stole our money, and I hope not my wife's identity. I would love to get them!!
