Rips off existing customers Rensselaer County New York

When attempting to upgrade to a Dish 500 system (and desiring to add a second receiver at the same time) I was told by Dish network that my only option, as an existing customer, was to pay roughly 200 dollars to receive the equipment - Not including shipping/handling.

I notice that the equipment is given away to new customers, with only a 1 year commitment to less in the way of programming than I currently subscribe too. I did, however, offer to pay a reasonable amount for shipping, but felt that I should not be penalized for being an existing, and I might add good PAYING customer.

Right now, although the monthly fees are higher, Directv offers a complete 2 room warranteed package for 15 dollars delivered and installed. That's 15 dollars total - and I told Dish Network this information. They don't care, and offered to sell me even more expensive PVR equipment (obviously not listening to anything that I was saying).

Finally, I notice that EVERYONE who is not on a dish 500 system is paying for programming that they are NOT receiving. Nearly every major movie package (HBO, Showtime, Starz) have channels only viewable on dish 500, but are dish 300 customers given a discount? NO. Dish 300 customers get 4 ppv channels - FOUR out of How many? Dish 300 customers are unable to view a variety of other channels, but I believe that most of them are not available in the top 50 package anyway.

These inequities are intolerable, and because of these reasons I'm considering switching to Directv in spite of the slightly higher per-month expense. One should compare their lineup to Dish Network's channel line-ups.

Dish Network needs to wake up - Don't abandon your customers once you get them, or you are likely to LOSE them.
