On December 12 I filled out the info to open a vonage phone account, but did not give them authorization change my phone number over from Embarq, as I wanted to make arrangements to keep my internet service with Embarq. I contacted Embarq, and they could not continue internet without retaining the basic phone service.

I then contacted vonage on Saturday 13 December to cancel the pending service and was told it was canceled but to call 866 243 4357 on Monday the 15th to confirm.

I did so, was at first directed to two different "departments" who both wanted reasons fo the cancellation of the pending service order, and after thorough explanation to each, both told me they did not have the authority to cancel, and they would redirect my call to the account management department.

"pete" was the individual I was directed to. He was thououghly unhelpful, and extremely irritating. He demanded a cancellation fee of $39.00, and refused to provide me with a cancellation number for me to challenge the fees already pending on my master card for the services I was attempting to cancel.

These people do not deserve to be in business. I have never had such a frustrating experience. Please pass the word if you have had similar experiences, and if you reading this trying to decide if vonage is going to be your carrier - don't go there, you will live to regret it.
