We found a company called Condor Moving Systems out or Arlington, Texas to do the move from Austin, Texas to San Diego, California.
We were informed of the following:
1) The cost for the move is $2,172.00 which includes the wrapping of some granite slaps that we have and boxing the two bed matresses that we have.
2) It will take five days to ten days to have our things arrived.
3) Condor moving systems will contact us two days before the truck arrives and another call 24 hours before with the times for the truck to arrive.
What we were not informed of and was mislead with:
1) An additional $768.00 in packing materials which were not itemized and what the materials were for since all of our things are already boxed.
2) An additional $864.64 for charges of the additional weight based on the company's claim that they weight the truck without our knowledge and no documentations where presented on such weight prior to shipping of our furnishings.
3) An additional $86.64 for fuel surcharge at a rate of ten percent of the additional weight for which we were not mad aware of.
4) We were not given an opportunity to authorize or decline items 1,2 and 3.
5) We were not notified that Condor Moving Systems made the decisions to spend the materials and load our furnishings without consulting with us of these additional costs.
6) We never recieved a phone call two days before the arrival of the truck.instead we recieved a phone call 18 hours before the day that the truck arrive to our house.
What we do feel is that they were being fraudulent and have deceptive business practice by not telling us the entire costs when we were operating under a very specific budget. When approached with the inquiries, they did not respond to our phone calls to the resolution. We are in fear that they will keep our belongings for ransome and demand of these ridiculous amounts that we did not authorized and further fear that we will be charge additional fees shall we decide not to pay the amounts that they demand.
