Ripped off, pet power groom plus, defective internet

Our experience today with our 6 month old vacuum.

We purchased a Bissell Power Groom Pet vacuum 6 months ago. It comes with Bissells 3 year warranty. I also bought an extra one year extended warranty when I bought it as vacuums are not what they once were.

It stopped working today. Basically the motor cannot power the beater bar. Hence burning through belts without moving anything.

We called customer service who then asked if we had put a new belt on it. The typical questions. We were told they would look up a customer service center. The closest being in Omaha, NE only 125 miles away.

At that point the customer service representative talked to his supervisor. He came back with a grand solution for us. Bissell would go out of their way and send us a new belt and brush. It would arrive in a short 7-10 days. Who goes for over a week without vacuuming when they have pets?

Yet, we should not complain about it because they are sending it to us FREE OF CHARGE. Apparently we are stupid Americans who don't know what the term "warranty" means.

After the parts arrive... When we would need an industrial vacuum to vacuum the house. Though never the less after the parts arrive and the vacuum still does not work we are welcome to call them back and look for more solutions.

At what point did manufacturers stop standing behind their products?

Anyway, that is our experience with the fine brand of Bissell. Beware everybody if you own one. I do know I will never own another one again. Though I will go all the way with this one and see just how long it takes them to replace the defective product. Now I'm in the market for another vacuum.

Anyone know of a good vacuum company that stands behind their consumers or is customer service totally dead?
