Judgment on account from 1991

This morning I went to my bank to get my rent money and discovered I had insufficient funds. The bank informed me that I had a judgment against me by Mitchell N. Kaye agency. I called the agency and spoke to Robert Schulman who advised me to go to the bank and have them fax a letter stating that the lien was on the account and how much it was. Mr. Schulman led me to believe he would take the lien off.

I did as requested and returned to my office to call Schulman. He said he got the letter but refused to release my funds. I offered to arrange a payment plan, but he refused. I offered to let them garnish my wages, but he refused. His reply was to ask when my next pay period was which is this upcoming Friday, that he would see how much is in my bank and make an arrangement with me. Does he think I am a fool? That I trust this man that much to allow him to get hold of two checks from me? I immediately stopped my direct deposit.

Now mind you, this is from a credit card bill from 1991. According to Schuman, a judgment was rendered against me in 1994 and they had 20 years to file. They claim they attempted to reach me, but did not even have my correct phone number. I never received a copy of a judgment because by the time the judgment was issued, I had moved from the address where I had been living. I plan to fight this tooth and nail, but it doesn't help me to pay my rent tomorrow.
