Circuit City
Lies Deceit Dishonesty DO NOT TRUST THEM

Shops, Products, Services

After saving my pennies for quite a few years, I decided to take the plunge and buy a new LCD LG television. I thought Circuit City was a reputable company and so, unfortunately, did not even look around at other stores. I purchased my dream television July 7.

I wanted to purchase this television to fit into an entertainment center. The sales'boy' told me the flat panels got a lot better reception if they are hung on the wall. I believed him. Why would I not? I am not a television expert but am only a senior lady that lives by myself with no close family. Why would a company like Circuit City take advantage.

I paid for a very fancy wall mount... So the TV would get the best reception. I also paid almost $500 for Circuit City's Fire Dog to install the television and hide the wires.

COMEDY OF CIRCUIT CITY CLOWNS
On the day of delivery, promptly at the time agreed upon, a Fire Dog person named Ben showed up. He told me he was there to 'calibrate' the tv and asked where it was. I told him that I did not have the television and was told the installers would be bringing it to my house. Ben immediately made a phone call to tell the 'installers' that the television was not at my house so they would have to bring it with them and he (Ben) would come back later to calibrate it.

About an hour later two installers showed up, told me they were there to install the television and asked where it was. I thought they were joking. I told them Ben had called and told them I did not have the television. I must give them credit. They did look almost embarrassed. They immediately telephoned the store and determined the television was still at the store. Now please, keep in mind that this was five days after i bought the tv. I could almost understand this comedy if it were the day after purchase and they had not had a chance to put it all together yet. But. So, these two Fire Dogs also left promising to return in an hour or so with my television. Right at that point I should have just stopped everything and asked for a refund. Hindsite. Eventually that day the two installers returned with my television. While they were nice, I did not appreciate them dropping my VCR and putting a hole in my wall. He was actually going to leave the one inch hole in my wall until I asked him if he had some repair stuff in his truck. He did... Apparently I am not the only one who's walls get damaged by dropped electronic gizmos. It turns out the lying sales'boy' who had told me I would get better reception by hanging it on the wall, also sold me the most costly wall mount that WOULD NOT work on my wall.

Luckily the installers had a cheapo in the their truck. We decided to call it a day and they would put the wires in the wall another day. "JUST CALL US, " I was told. Ben had to come back on another day and calibrate the television, plus I had to get Direct TV to put in the HD receiver... So, the installers would just come back and put the wires in the wall.

The very next day

I went to the Circuit City store on W. Happy Valley Road in Phoenix, AZ where I made my much looked forward to purchase. I showed the manager, VINCENT, digital pictures I had taken of the damaged wall and the wires. He seemed very sympathic and told me to just give him a call and he would have the installers come back out. I really felt warm and fuzzy upon leaving him as he told me there were no worries and they would make sure the job, which I had paid for, was done.

The next month... August

On August 9th Ben came back to my house to 'calibrate' my television. I asked him to let the manager, Vincent, know that I was ready to have the installation completed. Ben said he would take care of letting Vincent know. About August 12th I started calling the manager. I was told every single day that I called that he was there but had just stepped away for a moment and would call me right back. He never... Ever... Not even to this day, September 15th. Has ever called me back. The third week of August I called Circuit City Corporate Office at 1-888-244-6594. Star was very nice and helpful and could not believe what I had been through. She contacted the store and told me the manager would be calling me the next day. Guess what!!! You got it. No contact. Circuit City people seem to speak with forked tongue. The next Circuit City Corporate person I got to know was Lanette. Lanette, like Star, was extremely sympathic. She called the store even while I was on the line. Course, she also could not speak to the manager... I am now believing this manager must be the most powerful man on earth. Lanette did speak to Carmella... The assistant manger, who promised that she or Vincent would call me back with two hours. Can you GUESS what happned??? Not a single call.
The next day I received a call from corporate customer service and they had THE MANAGER on the line. Oh happy day. Now this problem would get resolved. First out of his mouth he told me he had already spoken to me and had explained that the installers worked out of a different store and he was having trouble scheduling. Yadda yadda yadda. I explained to him that he had NEVER spoken to me. He all but called me a liar when Lynette interjected and explained to Mr. High and Mighty Manger that I was NOT on the line and that it had been his own assistant speaking to corporate and NOT TO ME. Finally on this date, August 20, the manager and I set a date of SEPTEMBER 6th at 1PM for the installers to show up and finish the job.

The next month... September

You probably won't be surprised to learn that September 6th came and went with no one showing up and no call from Circuit City. Every day since I have dealt with Circuit City Corporate Customer Service and every day I am told I will be getting a call from either the manager or his assistant. I AM SO TIRED OF BEING LIED TO BY CIRCUIT CITY.

All this week I have asked them to just refund my installation fee so I can have it done by another company. I would be glad to pay for the install that they did do, minus the cost of paint for repairing my wall. But NOT for the installation they did NOT do. The price difference comes to about $200 between the super wire in the wall installation and the basic hang on the wall installation.

If you are considering purchasing and having something installed from Circuit City, trust me, look around. Guess what Circuit City Corporate told me today... Yep, the assistant manager was to call me back today. Guess who has not called for the 38th time?
