Dishonest, Abusive, Psychotic Owner/Manager will Rip You Off

On September 6th, I went into the store labeled Sofas 2Go at 12800 S. Memorial.

Two men, one claiming to be the owner of the store, followed me around the store attempting to sell the furniture like stereotypical used car salesmen.
I was told that if I did not find anything in the store, I could pick something from the pictures displayed on the wall or from their min-catalogue. I was told, repeatedly, that if I did not like the item FOR ANY REASON, I would get my money back.

I chose a sofa from the catalogue. They said it was in their warehouse, and could be delivered that evening. I told them I would pick it up, did not need it delivered. They said it would be at their store in 2 days. I paid for the sofa, over $600, and was given a receipt with a pick up date of Monday, September 8th. They said to call first, but they were sure it would be in if not Monday, certainly on Tuesday, September 9th.

Monday and Tuesday, I called the store. My calls went to a fax machine. Wednesday, September 9th, my husband went to the store. He was told that it would not be in for at least another week. They told him that they remembered me, and that they told me it would take this long to get the sofa. This was not true, as indicated on the receipt stating a September 8th pick up date.

I attempted to call the store again the next day, but was again sent to a fax machine. On Friday, I called the other store listed on their receipt Mattresses 2 Go. I was told that, yes, I had been calling the correct number, that they were not sure why it was going to fax. I left a message with them that I wanted to cancel my order and have my money refunded as promised at the time of payment.

Within 2 hours, I had a message from Sofas 2Go that my sofa was in, that I could pick it up.

My husband and I went to the store to pick up the sofa. We were told that, no, it was not in.

I told her we would like to cancel our order. She looked so perplexed and asked WhY? I told her that the store had not kept its commitment, that they had repeatedly inconvenienced us and been dishonest.

She said I would have to talk with the owner/manager, who was in the middle of the store on the phone. Once again, there were no other customer's in the store. We walked over to the desk and waited 15 minutes for him to finish his phone call.

He became irate on the phone, apparently with his bank/credit card company. He used the f word and GD several times, yelling at the person on the other end. It was very uncomfortable and inappropriate.

When he got off the phone, he told us that they did have our sofa, that it was in the warehouse. He said we could come back on another day to pick it up. I told him no, I just wanted our money back. He said that, because of the dispute he had just had with his credit card company, he would be unable to refund us that day. We would have to come back Monday or Tuesday of next week.

On Tuesday, September 16th, I went to the store for my refund. Again, there were no customers in the store. The owner/manager was there with a sales associated and another man. I was alone.

The owner/manager said that he was unable to refund my credit card, and that I would have to come back on another day because he did not have a checkbook there. I told him that this was ridiculous, that I believed if someone came in wanting to make a purchase, he would find a way to run their card.

The man then went absolutely crazy. He ran up to me, put his finger in my face, telling me to get the f out of his store. He said G-D, get the F out repeatedly and said he was not giving me my money back. It was absolutely shocking. I thought he was going to hit me; that is the way it appeared. The other 2 men, turned their heads, acting like they did not see this. He was sweating and shaking, screaming at me, cursing.

I know it is unbelievable, but there is really nothing more to the story. The guy just went crazy. I have never seen anything like it. He stole over $600 from me, but the most shocking part was his behavior.
