I signed up with Vonage in January of this year, and decided to go back with my former phone company, because the vonage service interfered with my internet reception and I believe it ruined the hard drive in my computer.

So I let the phone company I was transferring back to get in touch with Vonage so I could keep my current phone number. I was told that the transfer would happen on September 11, and my phone company was prompt to hook me up, so I wouldn't be without a phone.

I went into my Vonage account on the internet and noticed that it was not disconnected yet. Stupid me - I thought they just hadn't updated their records. Then on the 16th of the month of September, I got a notice that my account had been cancelled and I owed Vonage 120.62. Naturally, I was amazed. So I got on the phone and called them. They said it was for disconnection fee which was 39.99, and something about a rebate that was 70.00, as I didn't stay with the company for 24 months. I am usually savvy, but I thought - maybe I didn't read the really, really, fine print. Then I asked for a refund for my payment, which they took out on September 11th, the day they were supposed to cancel my service originally. No, No, they don't pro-rate anything. I will not be due a refund-even though I shouldn't have been charged in the first place.

I am quite sure I would never have agreed to those terms, if they actually had been listed on the agreement in January. But to take all that money and then not give me a complete refund! Well, I got mad. After all, they took it out of my bank account when I wasn't expecting it. Now that might not hurt some of you, but some of you know just what I'm talking about. It caused me to overdraw and now it is $30 more due to an overdraft charge. I am partially disabled, hoping to be reassigned to a job I can hold, am not able to draw unemployment and my husband is totally disabled and we are having a hard time making ends meet. I know that there are others not as fortunate as us, and I'm not complaining, but when a huge corporation tries to take additional money that they are not owed, then it is wrong. They do it because they can. That is why I am here writing this report. My beef is the $33 and change that shouldn't have been charged in the first place, their refusal to admit they made a mistake and/or a correction and refund.

When you hear their commercials on television they sound good, but I would rather pay a bit more and be with a sound, reputable company.
