How to cancel your columbiahouse membership: live operator

After 45 minutes and tedious note taking on what numbers i called, who i spoke to, and what company/department they were in, i found a number & menu option to talk to someone bout canceling my membership with columbia house dvd club.

Choose menu option 1 for english
choose menu option 6 for customer service
choose menu option 5 to cancel membership

A live person will come on the phone, and try to talk you out of canceling. They offered to keep my membership open and just not send me any director's selections... They neglected to offer the rest of the story - that i would be re-signing to commit to buy at least one more selection every 5 months...

I asked "tanya" to cancel my membership - she asked for my name and address, and said she would cancel it immediately, and to ignore any future correspondence from their system.

I guess i'll have to wait and see.
