Rebate Debit Cards Rebate is not money, as you would expect, but a junky "debit" card that soon expires. Huber Heights Ohio

Shops, Products, Services

After several years of Cingular service, after the merger with AT&T, we finally upgrated our phones from the old LG models to the new Razor models. The sales person told us we would get a $50 rebate per phone, for three phones that meant $150, which looked to be a pretty good deal. Now, after many months, we've finally received our "reabate", but not in the expected form, which would be, of course, money.instead of money, they sent us three bogus-looking Visa debit (not credit) cards, for $50 each, that required on-line or phone activation, and that expire in three months.instructions say to tell whoever we make a purchase from with them to run it as a credit card transaction, not a credit card transaction, although right on the front of each card, in bold lettering, it says "This is not a credit card." They cannot be used at any bank or ATT machine to get cash. We very strongly suspect that they will be honored just about nowhere at all.

We count this a fraudulent. It's false advertising, at the very least. AT&T website won't let me log on and send them an email; gee, I wonder why. A rebate doesn't mean, in simple English, a foreign or not widely accepted currency that expires in a short time. We see no reason for this form of rebate other than to rip customers off. Next time we need to update anything to do with our cell phones, it will include changing to another company.

Interested in anyone who has similar complaints, and in any ideas on how to get our money back, or at least get AT&T's attention.

Regards,

Vic
