Defective washe

On August 6th I purchased a front load washer & dryer set with pedestals from Sears. I also purchased an extended warranty for an additional cost. Total charge for all $2373.04. On Monday August 18th I had a Sears serviceman come because I have been having problems with the washer. It makes a horrible noise in the spin cycle and is depositing rust stains on all my clothes. The repairman said it would cost $1,079.00 to fix it because the whole "shell" has to be replaced. I told him to forget it, I wasn't paying that because I could get a new washer for less than that. He gave me a $65.00 coupon to be used within 2 weeks on the purchase of a new washer. My warranty of course expired on August 6th, so I was basically out of luck according to Sears, who I did write and complain to. I think this is a manufacturing problem and a washer should last more than 3 years especially for what they cost.
