Fye
TWEC FYE will scam you many different ways

Shops, Products, Services

As an ex-employee of FYE, I feel it is my duty to call attention to FYE's practices of scamming and misleading customers and bringing this information to light.

Magazines:
The magazines are a rip-off. Management will tell us we have to get magazines subscriptions from customers any way we can. If we fail to get any, or a low number, we are brought to the back room to have a talk about how to get people to sign up for them aka scam them. Basically, the customer will sign up for 1-3 free magazines, and be charged a penny. They will be received free, and then if the customer does not cancel, they are billed. Employees are supposed to explain this clearly to the customer, but most customers do not listen anyway.

Because of this, the occasional customers will come in demanding we remove the charge from their bills for the magazines that we scammed them into, and even going so far as to demand to call the corporate office at the store to get it removed.

Rebates:
You buy an item for the listed price, a rebate slip will print out with the recepit that you mail in with the upc code, and 6-8 weeks you get a check back for said amount. Many customers don't do this, or think the rebate price is the listed price. The customers that do mail in the rebates don't get them. I can tell you that the rebates usually do not get paid out and are forgotten by corporate, or whatever company allows them.

Backstage Pass:
For an extra $25, you get a card that gives you a 10% discount on future purchases. See, what employees are forced to tell customers is that the customer is charged for the cost of the card when they purchase it, in addition to whatever items they buy and get the 10% discount. So if a customer buys one item and buys the card, they're still paying for it unless they buy in bulk to save more or to get the card free. Employees are forced to ask everyone if they want the card and sell it to every customer regardless of what they are buying. Like the magazines, employees are not permitted to take no for an answer. If employees fail to achieve a goal of these cards, they're given "the talk" in the back room.
