False Claims on Credit Report

AT&T wireless began many, many phone calls to collect an unpaid bill to ANOTHER person who had not resided in my home for over 5 years. I was very ill at the time. I explained the circumstances to the collection agency, whose reply: "This is the phone number of the debtor and we shall continue to call it"
I contacted AT&T Wireless and the supervisor said the same thing. I asked him to look at my record (used for business) and length of time I'd used them for our business and personall phones, and to particularly look at the amount of money we'd spent with them over the years. His reply: "We'll continue to call you until the bill is paid" My reply: "What do I owe you right this minute?" AT&T supervisor reply: "Nothing" My response: "Cut off all my phones immediately, and you will never receive any money from me & ever". Months later I find a note in my credit file for $39 unpaid.
The original collection for the person who no longer resides at my address was for a disconnect fee. The reason for disconnect was that AT&T Wireless could not provide service where that person lived, and he discontinued service. He also was placed in a collection status. Charging fees for disconecting is ILLEGAL! If the provider cannot provide the advertised service, they CANNOT LEGALLY collect a disconnect fee.
All of the reasons for the collection, and harassing me while extremly ill show an arrogant disregard for their customers. Large companies regularly use the credit report business as a blackmail method to meet their greedy, illegal ends.
Beware, beware!
