Out Right Fraud

I went on my lunch break to the so called Happy Nails and Spa at the Irvine Spectrum for a simple pink and white fill with gel coating. When I arrived I looked at the menu and it seemed pretty straight forward. Pink and White fill $27 (this included a broken nail and cut down). I did not have any broken nails but I did need a cut down. I always get gel and the $5 is usually standard. So I proceeded to meet Tina, my nail tech for the experience.

I explained to Tina how I would like my nails shaped and she got busy with grinding them down and then began to apply the white powder. I told her that the last person who did my nails had done them to narrow and didn't even use white powder and I would like the tips a bit wider. She already had a base to work with. She then began to do the pink powder and offered me pink powder with sparkles. It seemed fun so I did it.

During the duration of these items she never once said that they may cost more or nor were these items mentioned on the menu of services.

When she began to add my total after we were done she told me that I owed her $40. Now if you were following along I should only owe $32 dollars at this time and a tip should I feel one is deemed appropriate.

When I asked why it was so much more she told me that sparkly powder was $5 more, this is not on the menu, and that the wider nail is more but she will give me a discount and told me it would be $38.

This is out right fraud and theft. I know for a fact that doing a different shape does not cost more nor does the pink sparkle powder after calling a Nail Supply Company and asking the wholesale price on pink powder versus sparkle pink powder. If there is a differnce it is minimal at most.

Not to mention the fact that it is not even on the menu in the first place!

I see that this is not the first complaint against this company and something needs to be done. I went to this nail shop due to an experience at another shop that did something of a similar tactic but not quite as bold.

Even if it is $5 extra for sparkle powder the total would have only been $37. Do the math.

Again, something must be done about these shops that are getting away with ripping off consumers.in todays economy it is especially frustrating when you now have put a ding in your gas and food budget because a nail shop is doing fraudulant business.

Before you think this is silly remember this this type of theft really adds up and these shops will keep doing it if something is not done. It really reminds me of oil change drive throughs and mechanics that have been caught for fraud. Something must be done!
