World Nails
Wretched Fill-in & Cut down

Every two weeks I get my nails filled in. I do not have tips, but I wear my nails natural and I get the technicians to give me a gel overlay because my nails are medium long, and I do not need tips. If you have gel or acrylic nails, you are supposed to come in every two weeks to get them filled in. Today I went to World Nails in Chicago Heights to get my nails filled - in and cut down because my nails were getting a little too long and it was time for me to get a fill in because it has been two weeks.

The lady that did my nails today was a slim fair skinned Asian woman about 5'3 or 5'4. She looks to be in her mid to late
30's. She may be in her early 40's, but I am not sure. She wears her hair tied back and her nail table is the last table on the left hand side before you get to the massage chairs for pedicures. Moreover, she calls me to her table, I sit down, and she removes my nail polish. She did not sanitize my hands after removing my nail polish nor did she push my cuticles back. After that, she gets out her electric nail file drill. She tells me, "how far do you want cut down, " I took my finger and lined it up to the point where I wanted them cut down and I told her "to this point". At first she did not cut them down far enough. She cut them a little above the point that I wanted them.

After that I told her a tad bit more. She kept drilling them until I almost did not have any nails left! I told her you cut my nails down too far! She then snickered and continued to rush through my nails. So when she got to my left hand I told her do not cut them down as short. She proceeded to cut them down like she did on my right hand. At this point she knew I was infuriated! I walked in the shop with medium long nails, I wanted them to be cut down to medium length nails, and I walked out with short uneven nails. Some nails were cut crooked; my thumb nails do not have any length what so ever. They barely pass my nail beds!

Furthermore, she proceeded to do the normal fill - in routine. She took her manual nail file, and attempted to even my nails
out, but she did a lazy job at doing so. She buffered the shiny layer of gel off, but the drill was hot and she kept buffering my cuticles! She did a lazy job all the way through! When I get my nails filled-in the nail technician applies nail primer before applying the gel. She did not do that. After she buffered the top coat of gel off, she took her brush dipped it in the gel liquid, then in the powder and immediately applied it to my nails. She did not apply the primer beforehand! The next step is to buffer the new coat of gel, and thin out the nails on the opposite side underneath. She did do this. After that she
manually filed the sides of my nails, but she did not push the skin on the side of my nails down and manually file them, there was gel left hanging over the sides of my nails. She did not blend the cuticle side edge areas at all. She did take the manual buffer and buff each nail, but she only buffered each nail twice, she did not do a thorough job. She applied the clear coat over each nail and placed my hand under the drying lamp one at a time. Then she took a brush and ran oil on all of my nails on each hand and told me to wash my hands. When I got back from washing my hands I asked her how much do I owe you? She told me twenty four and I paid her. She applied my nail polish and then she sat me under the dryer in the front. I sat there for a minute, but then I left and went to another shop so they can fix them.

I originally went to another shop for a polish change. I thought a more bold color than what I chose at the previous shop
would make me feel a little better which it did. I just cannot stand short nails and on top of that the nail technician did a TERRIBLE job! When I went to get my nail color changed, the guy asked me ugh who did your nails? As he filed the side of my nails down where the gel was overlapping. I told him this woman that works at World Nails located in Chicago Heights. He shook his head from side to side. This is the second horrible experience that I have encountered there. The first experience was with another young woman that worked there. She looked to be in her 20s, she may have been in her late teens, but to make a long story short, when I went to get my fill-in she only applied the gel at the point where my nails were growing out at the bottom, she did not put any gel on the rest of my nails. Ive been there a few times prior to my bad experiences, and the other nail techs do an okay job, but I have heard a few customers complaining about a young male nail technician who works there cutting peoples nails too short. I am beyond upset about this! For all of you nail technicians, you must do a good job on your clients nails. You represent the business! It is not about you. Do not do a half ass job and then have your hands out ready to get fed money! Also, if a client does not like short nails do not cut them off! You are not the one wearing them; you have no say so in what the customer gets! Now I have to wait three to four weeks to get my nail length back! Its like when a guy wants to just get his hair trimmed and the barber shaves his head bald! You cant take it back. It is what it is
until it grows back, it may not grow back! I paid twenty four dollars for a five dollar nail job. DO NOT go to World Nails! I know it is hard in the south suburbs to find a decent nail salon! BELIEVE ME. If you end up going to World Nails, get the middle aged man that sits in the front of the nail salon. A lot of times he is standing outside smoking a cigarette. All in all, stay away! Can I say trading standards?!
