Toys"R"us Beware: Ridiculous return policy / poor sales record management system

I just lost $270 ($250 tax) due to the stupid return policy and poor sales' record management system. Bought a Nintento Wii system from Toy"R"us and it broke within a month with a message "system files corrupt"

Took it back to the store for return and they asked for my credit card to look up transaction as I did not have a receipt. I happened to have replaced my CC in those 3 weeks as my previous one got expired. For safety I asked my CC company to change the last 4 digits for the replacement card.

Toys"R"us folks were not able to retrive my receipt even though I showed them my new CC, the card number and exp date for the actual CC used; my driver's license, my home address and telephone number, the actual Wii system I bought from them!

They say they are able to trace that I bought a Wii system on the day I claim I bought it but cannot confirm the serial #. So they cannot take it back. I feel this is absolute rubbish and only a way to avoid the return.

As of now I am stuck with system that does not work. Only way out is to work with Nintento for repair and live with the refurbished system hoping whatever they fix is permanent.

My advice to all is to avoid Toyr"R"us as much as possible, unless you have the time/energy/space to save your receipts for ages and/or be ok to be stuck with defective merchadize and work with the actual manufacturer for fixing it.
