Riviera Utilities
My power is out once every day or two -Riviera does nothing

I'm heading out the door shortly but I'd like to make a quick complaint about Riviera Utilities, which "serves" the eastern shore of the Mobile Bay.

I live in a fairly populated area (20,000 in this city, so it's not tiny but it's no metropolis either) so it's not an issue of just being in the middle of nowhere and my power connection is funky.

My power is out, for only a couple minutes or so, on a daily basis. Why is this such a big deal, you may ask? It wouldn't be if we lived in the old days during which everything was analog. But with today's technology, this means that more than half the clocks in my house are flashing "12:00" at any given time and that also means that I have to rely on my cell phone for an alarm (I literally can NOT rely on my alarm clock not going out - it simply happens too often!) and have had to buy a coffeemaker that has a battery backup for the clock and alarm settings because otherwise it would not be possible to have that in the morning.

Their answer?

They don't charge me for any electricity I don't use.
