MCI The Neighborhood SLOW on Changes to Service, Gives the EXACT same answer when I call to inquire deceptive company NATIONWIDE

I have had MCI since we moved to our current address in March of this year. Until now, things have been fairly smooth. Service has been okay, billing has been okay, no problems in payments posting.

However, due to several factors (incessant calls from people asking for the previous owner of our number, including her brother in prison who thinks we are covering for her EIGHT MONTHS LATER, harrassment calls from First Premier (see First Premier reports), etc. We decided to change our number. I called MCI, placed the order, was told that it may take up to two weeks, but since there was harrassment involved, they would push to expedite it. Two weeks come and go. No change. I call and after a 40 minute hold time (thank God for speakerphones), I am told that the order was placed and there will be an update within 24 hours, so my number should be changed in that time frame. THREE WEEKS have now gone by and I am calling on an almost daily basis and am being given the exact same story. Personally, I think that it is because they lease lines from the local phone company and since they are in bankruptcy, Pac Bell is not jumping to service their orders. I asked one rep if this were a possibility and the only thing she said is that she is "not allowed to discuss the reorganization."

I have given them a deadline of Tuesday. If it is not switched, much as I hate to, I will go back to (YECH) Pacific Bell.
