Abc Distributing LTD Commodities lives down to complaints

I stopped ordering from LTD Commodities because of their less than ethical practice of deliberately separating shipments (and shipping them in fantastically oversized boxes) so as to greatly inflate their handling charges. At one point last summer, however, I relented and placed an order for a product I wanted but hadn't seen anywhere else. I should have heeded past lessons.

LTD Commodities first delayed shipment, and then after more than TWO MONTHS advised the product was backordered. Finally, after another two months, the product arrived without warning and long after it would do me any good. I returned it to LTD with a note advising that I believed they should change their procedures concerning backordered items to let customers elect not to receive something that might no longer be needed or wanted.

Not long after I returned the package, the collection calls and letters began. I advised I'd returned the product; they denied it and declined to investigate. The only thing that happened from their end was an escalation of the collection calls. I finally told the collections people to stop calling me this is my right by law and to communicate only in writing. They did not.in fact, they called even more frequently.

During the course of their collection calls, they spoke with third parties and, without my consent, informed people that I "owed money, " was a "delinquent payer, " and that I had "committed fraud" by not making payment. When advised that I was no longer at that phone number (a former employer), they then proceeded to threaten that previous employer with filing negative credit reports against the company itself if it didn't promptly pay up! (While they were at it, they accused me of fraud for having had items sent to me at the work address and under the company name, claiming I'd opened a credit account in the name of the COMPANY rather than my own something else that's entirely untrue).

LTD collections personnel also demanded that Human Resources illegally release confidential information about me (my home address and phone number) and wouldn't stop calling until they got the information. Fortunately, the people on my end of the phone knew more about the law (not to mention ethics) than does LTD Commodities!

Out of sheer frustration over the course of the past months, I finally just paid their stupid bill. While I purchased nothing but trouble from them, I'm also at long last buying a little peace. But as far as I'm concerned, they are liars and thieves. They either get their pound of flesh through over-the-top add-on charges (which, by the way, you don't know about until you receive a shipment), or they get it when people pay just to get relief from their relentless harrassment.

I've read through some of the other complaints here, and can only nod my head sadly in agreement. I've unfortunately experienced most of these things from LTD Commodities myself. While that does make me feel a little better that it isn't just me, I'm also appalled that this company continues to victimize those shoppers who haven't yet learned the LTD Commodities lesson.
