Mark Waldrop
Deceptive quotation, unfinished work, overbilling, bait-and-switch

Mark Waldrop is a an untrustworthy, lying scoundrel. He bids by the job, but charges by the hour. He says everything (parts and labor) are included, but he bills for parts separately. He had the nerve to claim, "The job is done, I'm all finished" on installation of a hot tub, but the hot tub had multiple seal leaks and no heat, and the light was not connected.

He said the walls would be insulated, but there was no insulation. He said the tub would rest on solid cinder blocks, but only the sides were supported, and they were not supposed to be load-bearing; the tub rests on soil only. He said there would be a timer, but there was no timer. He said he would show up on a certain date, but he was three weeks late.

He said the final price would be more than we agreed on, and he would not tell me over the telephone or on email what that final price was, and he threatened to sue me before he ever even delivered a bill. He called me a "f-ing idiot" for expecting the job to be finished before I paid him. Although he claimed not to smoke when I hired him, he left cigarette butts all over the job site, and later acknowledged that he did smoke.

This man is a liar and a cheat. I paid him just to get rid of him, not because he earned the money. He told me repeatedly, "You're messing with the wrong good-old-boy, " when I questioned expenses. At one point, he said, "Why don't I come out there, and we'll settle this thing right now?" I said, "OK, come out here right now." He said, I'm eating dinner with my family; you can't expect me to come out there right now." Do not do business with Mark Waldrop!
